Covered in Greatness

At Press Play Curation, we believe that music isn’t just background noise—it’s a bridge. A shared language. A way to see one another, hear one another, and even feel what someone else feels. And in a world that often feels divided by belief systems, political views, race, or religion, music has a unique way of dissolving those lines—even if just for a few minutes at a time.

This month, we curated a playlist titled “Covered in Greatness”—a 2 hour journey through cover songs that span genres, generations, and cultures. Some of them flip classics on their head. Others honor the original while introducing a fresh perspective. But all of them share one thing: they reflect the power of reinterpretation, collaboration, and creative connection.

Cover songs, by their very nature, remind us that meaning isn’t fixed. That beauty can be revisited, reimagined, and re-expressed. Whether it’s a funk version of a rock anthem, or a stripped-down ballad reinventing a club banger, a good cover invites us to hear something familiar in a new way—and maybe even discover something new about ourselves or each other in the process. It empowers us to listen in a new way, and share with others to hear things differently.

A few weeks ago, we attended the Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium (it was night 1, not that show). Midway through the show, Chris Martin took a moment to thank the crowd—not just for being there, but for being there together. He said something that stuck with us: that no matter our beliefs, backgrounds, or differences, we were all in the same place, singing together, dancing together, and sharing in the joy of music. In that moment, it didn’t matter who you voted for, what you believe, or where you're from. What mattered was that we were united by something bigger than ourselves—a song.

We know the world isn’t short on opinions or noise. But music—when chosen with care—can cut through that noise. It can turn a room of strangers into a dance floor full of shared energy. It can make people pause, laugh, remember, or simply breathe. And it can remind us that even if we don’t all believe the same things, we can still find harmony.
